ABOUT Us
Desford in Bloom, a working group of Desford Parish Council, was founded in 2016 by local resident Ewan Lindsay. It is entirely run by volunteers from the local community and all funds are raised through generous sponsorship and the many fundraising events we hold each year.

Our primary aims are to foster the great community spirit whilst adding even more vibrance and colour to an already beautiful village and being mindful towards developing an environmentally sustainable place to live.
ABOUT Desford
Desford is a village that lies approximately 6.5 miles (11k) west of Leicester and 6.5 miles (11km) north-east of Hinckley in Leicestershire, with a current population of over 4,000 residents. The earliest written record of Deresford or Diresford is in the Domesday Book of 1086, but research suggests the name is older and means Deor's Ford, rather than Deer's Ford, suggesting an Anglo Saxon origin.
What We Do
The Desford in Bloom Committee meets once a month to discuss current and future projects, how vital funds should be spent and organise community fundraising and awareness activities throughout the year.

We have an incredible team of waterers throughout the summer months who ensure our 200+ hanging baskets, beds and planters keep looking their best.
​
Our maintenance volunteers work tirelessly all year round looking after the village’s flower beds, planters and green spaces, planting up new areas and assisting with Desford in Bloom funded projects.
